The best thing about starting the Yes Music Podcast? – Yes Music Podcast

It’s all about you

(I've Seen) All Good People

It’s an easy question to answer. By far the best thing about starting the podcast is being able to connect with the people who have been kind enough to listen and comment.

It’s been an amazing experience to confirm to myself that there are people out there who, like me, are fascinated by the music of Yes – and who are prepared to listen to me talking about my passion for the music.

I have received a remarkable number of comments via the website, email and Twitter, considering I’ve only recorded one episode so far!

Thank you

So I’d like to say, “Thank you,” to everyone – you know who you are – you’re the best. Keep listening and I hope someone will be brave enough to record a message on the answerphone (details on the right) so I can play it on the show at some point. Go on – you know you want to hear yourself on the podcast!

A Yes Music Podcast challenge

Challenged!

I have been set a challenge by @HerbertBebetow on Twitter. He wonders if I can make transcripts of the Yes Music Podcast episodes available.

A bit of a tall order?

Certainly, I can’t sit and type out the episodes – I just haven’t got time – but my wife has a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking so I’m going to see how it copes with the mp3s of the episodes. Watch this space for progress…

It would be very nice if Β this works, particularly as it would be great to have a text copy of the whole exploration – might make it into a book πŸ˜‰ Well, at least a pdf…

Oliver Wakeman re-joins Yes (not really)

Yes are playing at Birmingham Symphony Hall on 11th November, 2011. I can’t afford to go, sadly, but I took a look at the website. Imagine my surprise to see from the photo on the site that Oliver Wakeman will be appearing! Ah, no, wait…that’s an old press photo:

Birmingham Symphony Hall Yes advertisement
Alan White, Chris Squire, Benoit David, Steve Howe and...oh hold on...

Yes ‘no support’ shock!

Also, I was dismayed to see that, according to the advertisement, there is no longer any support for the band we all love, despite the concert being practically sold out already! Oops, wrong again…sorry πŸ˜‰

Fly From Here promoted in HMV!

Look what I found when I popped into my local HMV the other day:

Fly From Here in HMV
Fly From Here on the shelf but promoted!

Sorry the image is so blurred – I took it very quickly with my ancient mobile phone. It’s great to see that despite financial troubles, HMV still has good taste in music!

Well done HMV!

The text reads (I think):

Fly From Here emcompasses YES’ signature brand of mysticism and grand-scale compositions. Maintaining a complex, symphonic sound that features the beautiful harmonies and strong heavy riffs they are known for.

Slightly odd sentence construction (if I’ve got it right) but I agree with what’s being said!
