Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Doug Curran and Jeffrey Crecelius

This week Mark and I spoke to Chris Braide from the Downes Braide Association about their new album, Trauma. Even if you don’t know Chris, you will know his work because he has written and/or produced songs for many of the world’s most successful artists. He’s been nominated for a Grammy and has won an Ivor Novello songwriting award. This is the 6th DBA album and we usually manage to speak to Geoff Downes about the duo’s output so it was great to have a chat with the other half of the outfit.
Chris’ Yes connections go further than Geoff, of course, as he was one of the original members of Producers, along with Trevor Horn. In fact, he has recently released new versions of the songs on the Producers’ 2012 album, Made In Basing Street. You can listen to that collection on Bandcamp.

Mark and I highly recommend Trauma, which is released today on Cherry Red Records, complete with another fabulous Roger Dean cover.

Great interview. I particularly liked the questions from me.
I love Chris Braide’s “This Oceanic Feeling” CD. I find that I often play it in conjunction with the Producers’ original CD and the first DBA album, as they seem to work well as a unit (an unintended trilogy, perhaps)? Since Lee Pomeroy is part of “This Oceanic Feeling,” all three CDs have direct Yes connections and are worthy of a place in any Yes fan’s collection!
It seemed noteworthy at the time that Lee also played on the second DBA album during that period when Geoff was in Yes (official) and Lee was in the ARW band. I liked seeing that the boundary lines between the bands were not so rigid as fans might have expected.
Hey Ray,
A fascinating comment. As I am not familiar with Chris Braide’s solo catalog…I was unaware of the Lee Pomeroy connection. I will definitely seek out “This Oceanic Feeling”. Being a fan of both Chris Braide’s work with DBA and Lee Pomeroy as a bass player (I had Lee play on my Projekt Gemineye album – “In the Year 3073 Book II)…this should be a great addition to my collection. Thanks for the info Ray.
I’m loving the new DBA cd, but then I enjoy all of their albums. And Dave Bainbridge adds so much with his various guitar work on this and their 2 previous albums.
