It was very exciting to speak to Steve Howe this week and ask him about the forthcoming UK and European tour as well as Yes’ plans for the future.
- How has Billy Sherwood settled in?
- Does Steve prefer playing whole albums?
- Are there plans to tackle more whole albums?
- Are Yes going back into the studio?
Listen to the episode and then let me know what you think!

Theme music
The music I use is the last movement of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. This has been used as introduction music at many Yes concerts. My theme music is not take from a live concert – I put it together from the following two creative commons sources: thanvannispen and archive.org

Great interview Kevin , SH very open re the plans ahead
Enjoyed his comments on the effect playing MM has both mentally and physically on stage
Well done
Thanks Fergus – yes he was really up for it!
Great Interview!!!
Thanks Adam I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing and Thank you !
Thanks Paul!!
Great interview. I would love to hear Soundchaser live but I wonder if Geoff Downes is up for that challenge.
Not sure…in a way I winder what would be in it for him. Patrick’s style couldn’t be further from Geoff’s – and that’s not a criticism!
Nice interview! Thanks, Kevin.
Thank you for the comment, Don!
Great interview, Kevin! I agree with Steve about Billy fitting right in- I’ve seen him play and I’m a wee bit critical (picky) about basslines, and Billy did them justice. I described him during Starship Trooper as “bringing the thunder”. I’m glad to hear that I might hear Relayer in the near future- and I like that Steve comes up with fantasy setlists too!
Thank you, Wendy. I can’t wait to hear and see Billy play. From the videos I’ve seen , I think it’s going to be brilliant!
Hearing Steve Howe talk about “full album” shows and specific set lists for shows was tremendously interesting. I almost fainted when I heard him talking about the possibility of Yes tackling Relayer in a future tour!!
Yes indeed! Well you never know…and actually you never know who might be in the band by that time, I suppose!
Great to hear Howe’s take on things–not a big fan of current line-up—but love Steve for many years and his music in Yes is amazing and stands the test of time—I agree another album shouldn’t happen unless there is true inspiration. Bring Moraz along on a Relayer tour–I’d pay to see that!!
Thanks Michael. Yes I would love to see Patrick back – even just for that! I wonder if the expanded group idea will ever happen…maybe one day.
I guess it can go with territory that artists as talented and successful as Steve Howe can get smug, or even worse, but with Steve, you don’t seem to get any of that stuff. It was great to hear how much passion he still has for the music and is still thinking about possibilities for future projects. Rock on, Steve!
Thanks for the great interview, Kevin.
Thanks Andy – yes he was absolutely lovely to speak to – warm and always looking forward. Perfect!
