Sorry Mark, in the Star Trek episode “Amok Time” the Vulcan elder, T’Pau said the word “Kroykah”, the Vulcan Word for “stop!”. I had to pause the episode to come here and be the first to point this out. Now back to the episode.

Ahhh – but it certainly sounds like Troika – which is a horse-drawn sleigh. Thus the piece’s association with Christmas and / or snowy weather (see the Woody Allen film Love And Death) – but there’s another link there. It was a common trope of Christmas songs to feature a snippet of Christmas-associated classical music, so Greg Lake’s I Believe In Father Christmas contains the main theme from Troika, whereas Run With The Fox uses The Sussex Carol in a very similar way.
Kevin, I received my copy of the Tales Listening Guide this week! You did a spectacular job with the book and color supplements. It has found a home among my Tales original album, UK 1973 Tour Guide (signed by all five band members) and CD’s. I look forward to my forthcoming ritual of reading what I’m sure will be the very revealing text that is the remembering of now seemingly ancient events.
