Once again this week, Mark and I are looking at what did they do next. We have reached the Yes hiatus period from 2004 and we are using the opportunity unashamedly to examine what each of the 5 members of the band did in this interregnum. First, we will look at one of the Yes men who did really leave at this point, in fact, never to return, Jon Anderson. What did he get up to once he had recovered from total exhaustion at the end of the 35th Anniversary Tour? Listen on to find out.

  • What was the Yes hiatus period??
  • Which Yes men ‘left’?
  • What did they do?

Theme music

The music I use is the last movement of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. This has been used as introduction music at many Yes concerts. My theme music is not take from a live concert – I put it together from the following two creative commons sources: thanvannispen and archive.org

I’m glad you finally got to this Jon release. I got a signed copy of it from Jon upon release. Although I’m a big fan of Jon I was disappointed by this dvd. The running time is short, Jon’s singing & playing are very basic, and the extras are very dry. I understand the Golden Mean, but you can fall asleep listening to the explanation. I know many others who got it at the time & not one of them was happy with the value for money, or the contents. It’s certainly interesting & different, that’s for sure, but it’s one that I never go back to. It’s stored away. Worth watching once if you’re a Jon fan.

I thought I had a copy of this DVD – but I can’t find it now. It’s definitely a ‘play it once’ job. However, it did form the basis of his one man shows later in 2005. I saw it at Birmingham Symphony Hall in October 2005, and I remember it being impressive. Visuals on a big screen and Jon triggering other instruments via midi. I think he’d only recently recovered from a serious back injury – didn’t he fall off a ladder? He also played plenty of piano in the night – again, quite impressively, as I recall. I’ll be interested if anyone saw him in 2005 – he did a lot of shows that year throughout Europe and the USA.
