We were delighted to welcome Oliver Wakeman to the show this week to talk about the surprise new Yes album, From A Page.

We also have a copy of the mini box set containing From A Page and In The Present – Live From Lyon.

Here’s the question you need to answer: At which event did Oliver first see his dad playing ‘with Yes’? You’ll need to listen to the interview for the answer!

Send your answer to show@yesmusicpodcast.com and one winner will be chosen at random.

Theme music

The music I use is the last movement of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. This has been used as introduction music at many Yes concerts. My theme music is not take from a live concert – I put it together from the following two creative commons sources: thanvannispen and archive.org

  1. A great interview. Next week a full report on the music eh?

Oh, do go and see the Roger Dean Exhibition on in East Sussex now, you can see the artwork with the figures you spoke about.

  2. Excellent interview-you asked some of the questions I would have. I met Oli on the ’08 Yes tour and he is a lovely man, like his Dad.

  3. Lovely addition to the YES catalog, fantastic to see Benoit and Oliver be heard again in the YES light. Also hoping this release spurs Billy and Jon D to get creative and into the studio for another new YES studio album. Great interview, thank you.

  4. Great interview. I’m looking forward to hearing more of these songs… Not quite sure I’m willing to buy “Lyon” again just for the songs. Hopefully they’ll be available at some point as a download.

While I am a fan of the “Fly From Here” album, I do think it is a shame that Oliver didn’t get a full opportunity to appear on a full studio Yes album. Who knows… in this topsy-turvy Yes history… maybe he’ll get another shot at it.

  5. What a great interview. Very much one of the best yet. Oliver was so well engaged with the whole conversation. I may never hear this collection but it was lovely to hear how it was made. Chris’s involvement on the live pieces may well sway me into buying it. I look forward to a review.

  6. Yes, great interview. I’d never bothered with this live set, and I bought it this time because of the new studio tracks – but the interview made me look forward to all of it. Once it arrives ….
Also interested in the album he was discussing with you at the end.
