Theme music

The music I use is the last movement of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. This has been used as introduction music at many Yes concerts. My theme music is not take from a live concert – I put it together from the following two creative commons sources: thanvannispen and archive.org

Yes Jamie – good ideas. Now I have the connection with the Gottliebs, who knows? Mike would also be good and I have definitely got David Watkinson lined up to come and talk about two new books…

For those who don’t know, Doug and Glen Gottlieb are still affiliated with the YES Organization,
as they handle all production work for the YES Tour Programs (when we can get them !).
An excellent Tour Book was produced by the Gottliebs for the 2013-14 Full Album Tours, which
was the first Progam that had been released since 2004.

Fascinating to hear that about tour programmes! I hadn’t realised they disappeared for so long! Thanks, Carl.

Hi Kevin,

The Jobson piece was interesting. I wonder if he has mellowed any, since he was willing to do the Cruise to the Edge with the reformed UK a couple of years ago. If he still felt that level of disdain for the band members, I doubt he would have done it. Perhaps the only thing worse than being a support act for musicians you despise is being stuck on a ship with them for a week.

I also find the whole “Tony Kaye had to rejoin because of the Brian Lane dispute” difficult to accept. It was my understanding that at that time Chris and Alan owned the name “Yes.” Therefore, why would it matter who else was in the band? Especially since the previous Yes album was Drama, which had only one original member on it. Furthermore, why would a manager who is not the original band’s manager make such an objection on behalf of Howe and Wakeman who were also not original members and left the band willingly? It doesn’t add up.

Thanks Kevin. All comments live for ever on the web of course so you may well be right about him mellowing. It’s funny how things surface again…

The whole area of names and who owns what is complex and in the end doesn’t matter I suppose. As you point out, this doesn’t seem to have any consistency at all!

I saw YES in 1980 when I was 15 with my friend Greg and his Dad. We were close enough to the stage that I
could see Steve’s chord changes for “Does it Really Happen” up close (what a great stage show for those 79-80
tours).

Can’t wait to hear the whole of DRAMA live in 2016….(BTW, “Run Through the Light” has never been performed
live before !)

Thanks again, Carl. I thought that was the case with Run Through the Light. I too can’t wait for 2016. It’s all different now since the passing of Chris but we are looking forward as well.
