Hi Kevin, in mentioning Sounds and NME you forgot to mention Melody Maker https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.musicstack.com%2Fmy%2Findex.cgi%3Fseller%3D1549%26search_type%3D%26date%3D%26media%3D%26genre%3D%26Jump%3D%26price%3D%26price_currency%3D%26find%3Dy%26next%3D50&ei=yBiwVOC3D9PLsATCu4KYDg&bvm=bv.83339334,d.cWc&psig=AFQjCNHLXs97bi0zxOhw_mEXAi22NGvDjQ&ust=1420913214675540
Yes indeed – seems like a pre-historic time when I look back now! Thanks Ken.
Can’t believe I won the YMP quiz! Interesting to hear that Close To The Edge was supposed to look like leather. I could not find that anywhere. Glad to hear the podcast is back on the air and on the web! Hope you and yours are doing well. Happy New Year & Thanks for all you do in supporting my favorite prog band!
Great to hear you are happy, Barry. I am getting things sorted out for your [small] prize but being my usual ridiculously slow self…sorry.
I’m a few weeks behind, and just catching up now I think you quoted me in the quiz on Roy Thomas Baker, but my first name isn’t Ken! 🙂 Having said that, I appreciate the compliment all the same!
Glad to see you back, and hope things are better at home.
As I said on the podcast – oops – sorry again. 🙁
I know this reply is well after the original episode, but I’ve been meaning to get around to it and had to confirm that I heard you identify the icebergs in the cover artwork for Drama.
They are not icebergs, they are in fact a perfect rendering of a rock formation at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park located on Highway 14 just north of Los Angeles.
They have been the setting for many television episodes; my favorites are Star Trek episode Arena (in which Kirk must fight the Gorn) and The Twilight Zone episode The Zanti Misfits (I saw it when I was young and it terrified me for years).
I stumbled upon the park several years ago when I was traveling in that area with my son, and we spent an afternoon there, all the while imagining ourselves in these tv shows, and for my part, running through a Roger Dean landscape.
I encourage you to take a look at the tv episodes I’ve mentioned. I’d like to know what you think!
Hi Steve and thanks for the information! I will indeed take a look at those episodes and see if I can spot the rock formations. Roger Dean borrowing from nature just like so many other classic artists!
